Tidy Spirit
✨ From Messy to Magical✨
Robin's KonMari Journey
Before KonMari ... I was as lost as my keys!

Some clients assume I was always organized, but that's not true. When I first read Marie Kondo's book, The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up, I was a hot mess on the struggle bus of chronic overwhelm.
I was stressed out, regularly losing my keys and other essentials. I was very bogged down by things. I was not confident in my present moment and kept a lot of things for "someday." I was concerned how I could be perceived and imagined the "gaze" of others when I tried on clothes — rather than expressing my heart. I attempted to cut down on the piles all over my room and crammed in my drawers, but my thinking prevented me from breaking the cycle.

Tidying helped me embrace myself

The KonMari "joy check" was a complete 180 from my conventional logic. It revealed so much to me about my world, allowing me to discover my authenticity underneath the layers of people-pleasing and what-if scenarios. Allowing the spirit of joy to take over changed everything for the better.
I reclaimed my identity, space and time, realizing that we indeed live within a Friendly Universe, who wills joy for us when we allow it!
I started helping others

My first client was a dear "auntie" who had struggled with extreme clutter all her adult life. Despite being a "clean-freak" with fine taste in decor, art, and materials — her home was inundated with piles of clean but chaotic things including papers, constant new shopping items, and even storage containers. She hired professional organizers over the years but no one could help her. On a few occasions she felt invaded by the way they handled her things.

Working with me, the Marie Kondo method became her breakthrough, because it was highly intentional and not superficial. It honored her deep hyper-sensitivity and helped her take ownership of her space and needs. After our first session she told me with tears in her eyes "I have hope for the first time" and I laughed and said "I'm just the Kondo-uit!" 😉 and was grateful to know I had a tool that could truly cut through the the core of clutter and help those needing lasting transformation and healing — and give back to a woman who had given me so much. I vividly remember when her longtime accountant came to the house during one of our sessions and saw the dining table completely clear for the first time in over 20 years — and came to tell me it was a miracle. When my auntie wrote "magic" on the description line of the check for my services, I knew I had found the gift I wanted to give to others.

I trained with Marie Kondo and earned my certification

While I was working with my auntie, I started with a second client. At that time, Marie Kondo announced her first consultant training outside of Japan. I was trained in that first class of consultants in 2016 and was earned my certification in 2018, upon completing my practice hours and consultant exam.

Working with clients

Since 2016, I have witnessed the magic of tidying change so many lives! I have worked with individuals, couples and families with clients ranging in age from their 20s to their 70s! I have also helped children tidy.

Sometimes clients are going through major life transitions — welcoming a baby, moving, getting sober, or walking through some other significant change. I am so honored to be able to hold space for my clients as they choose joy and refine their lives to reflect their deepest values.

I have worked with clients in small shared apartments and in large glamorous houses. I have had clients around the corner I could walk to, and clients I have needed to fly to! Wherever you are, I am excited to work with you and am only here to support, not to judge.
One thing I have learned from tidying in Los Angeles is that no matter what kind of lifestyle or career we may have, we are all common in the tender aspects of our humanity and everyone is seeking to feel at peace and authentic in the space they call home.

My Joy Flow
Choosing joy for me means a home full of color, friends, art supplies, and lots of plants! Cooking happens daily with a pantry full of staples and often buzzing with fun new ingredients to try — like psyllium husk for baking gluten-free bread, dragon fruit powder for making things pink, or a secret family recipe chai mix from a bestie's mom. A projector screen allows for epic movie nights but eliminates the need for a TV. There's storage for adventure gear ... rollerblades, hiking boots, camping gear, and snowboard! Sometimes things get "messy" but the secret is having a place for everything to go away to when it's time to reset the space. Resetting isn't a struggle, it's a flow state. When everything is in its place, there's a palpable serenity that feels like magic — the magic of living in my authenticity and being able to invite others to join me in that space called home.
